Addressing the health impact of environmental factors in the community
The Environmental Health Division at St. Mary's County Health Department works closely with a variety of other local agencies and services, including Land Use and Growth Management, Metropolitan Commission, and Animal Control.
The Environmental Health Division addresses the health impact of environmental factors in our community, and works to prevent illness born from poor water quality, contaminated soils, unsafe food, and other community environmental health hazards (such as rabies).
The Environmental Health Division is accountable for local compliance with a variety of state and local regulations, and has delegated responsibilities from both the Maryland Department of Health and the Maryland Department of the Environment.
