St. Mary’s County Health Department Launches New Patient Portal

COVID-19 Test Results Now Available Online

LEONARDTOWN, MD (December 3, 2020) – The St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) has launched a new online patient portal. The online patient portal allows for secure provider/patient communication and affords patient autonomy in accessing information, including COVID-19 test results for individuals tested at the SMCHD testing sites.

“Over the past several weeks the number of community members getting tested for COVID-19 at our SMCHD testing sites has increased considerably,” said Dr. Meena Brewster, St. Mary’s County Health Officer. “Increased testing volume, locally and across the state, results in increased laboratory processing and result turnaround times. We hope that the SMCHD online patient portal will provide ease and convenience for our patients in accessing their lab results as soon as they are available.”

Patients have the option to self-register in the portal or can be registered by SMCHD. The only requirement to use the patient portal is access to the internet and an email address.

At this time, the following features are supported:

  • Access to laboratory results [e.g., COVID-19, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), etc.]
  • Access to personal information on file (demographics, contact information, allergies, vitals history, etc.) and ability to update information if needed
  • Access to patient education/care follow-up information

SMCHD will continue to expand functionality of the portal to include additional features such as appointment scheduling, medication refill requests, and more.
