LEONARDTOWN, MD (January 10, 2021) – The St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD), in partnership with the St. Mary’s County Library is distributing free KN95 masks to those who live or work in St. Mary’s County.

Community members may pick up a free KN95 mask at these St. Mary’s County Library locations, while supplies last:

“As we work to mitigate the impact of newer, more contagious strains of the COVID-19 virus, it’s important for our community members to wear more effective masks when indoors with persons outside their household,” said Dr. Meena Brewster, St. Mary’s County Health Officer. “KN95 masks, N95 masks, ASTM-rated medical grade surgical masks, and double-masking with surgical masks significantly impact transmission of this virus and help protect our whole community.”

“The library is delighted to help our County Government and Health Department protect our community against virus transmission. KN95 masks are vital tools for keeping our county residents safe and healthy,” said Michael Blackwell, St. Mary’s County Library Director.

Learn more about types of masks and ways to make sure your mask works effectively is available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
