LEONARDTOWN, MD (November 1, 2021) – The St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) has scheduled a virtual information session on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. for parents/guardians to provide updates on COVID-19 vaccination for youth, and to address common questions from parents about COVID-19 vaccine.
Community members are encouraged to participate virtually via the event livestreams on the SMCHD YouTube channel and Facebook page. Questions may be submitted in advance, prior to noon on November 5, 2021 via email to smchd.pr@maryland.gov.
“Kids ages 5 to 11 will soon become eligible for the protections offered by COVID-19 vaccine,“ said Dr. Meena Brewster, St. Mary’s County Health Officer. “This information session will answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine so that parents can make vaccine decisions for their children.”
Local vaccine appointments for youth ages 5-11 will be available later this week, following the release of clinical recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. More information is available on the SMCHD website at smchd.org/covid-19-vaccine-kids.
