Suicide is a serious public health problem that can have lasting harmful effects on individuals, families, and communities. While its causes are complex and determined by multiple factors, the goal of suicide prevention is to reduce factors that increase risk and increase factors that promote resilience.
We can all help prevent suicide. R U OK? is a media campaign intended to bring awareness, education and information to the community on how to identify, approach and interact with someone who may be suffering from a behavioral health crisis. Suicide, depression and other mental health issues can be awkward topics to discuss with someone you care about. R U OK? empowers individuals to connect with the people around them, and offer support to anyone who may be in need of help.
Be the one to ask family, friends and colleagues the question, “R U OK?” You can make a difference for those who may be struggling.
