Paula Carson, MSN, FNP-BC, RN

Paula Carson, MSN, FNP-BC, RN began her career as an LPN in 1985, graduating from Indiana Vo-Tech in Indiana, Pennsylvania. She earned her Associate in Nursing from Charles County Community College in 1994 and a Bachelor of Nursing from Stevenson University in 2012.  In 2016 Paula finished her Masters in Nursing graduating from Bowie University’s Family Nurse Practitioner program.

Throughout her career in healthcare, Paula has worked in a number of positions including long-term care, home health care, infusion companies, and the Naval Health Clinic at Pax River. Most recently before SMCHD, she worked at MinuteClinic in Leonardtown. After researching and speaking with friends and colleagues Paula made the move to public health, as she described, it’s one of the few areas of medicine where helping people and our community is the primary goal. 

Currently, Paula lives in Calvert County with her husband, whom she has been married to for 36 years, and a very spoiled Goldendoodle and Sphynx cat. She has three grown children and three grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys all the activities that living near the water allows, such as kayaking, fishing, crabbing, and boating.

Kelli Goldsborough, FNP-BC

Family Nurse Practitioner

Kelli Goldsborough joined SMCHD in 2022 as a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner responsible for seeing patients in the School-Based Health Centers and other SMCHD Clinics. In this role, she provides direct wellness and sick care for the students of St. Mary’s County, along with supporting the local community with health and wellness opportunities.

Goldsborough was raised in Southern Maryland and graduated from nearby St. Mary’s Ryken High School. She attended The College of Southern Maryland for her nursing degree and went on to Walden University for her Master’s in Science, Nursing Management, and Leadership. In 2018 she received her Post Graduate Certification to become a Family Nurse Practitioner from Perdue Global University.

Since then, Goldsborough has experience in Primary Care, Wound Care, and Addiction Medicine. She also brings over 20 years of nursing experience with a background in Hospice, Intensive Care, Long Term Care, and Case Management. Previously Goldsborough worked as adjunct faculty for the College of Southern Maryland nursing program and is a Certified Case Manager. She currently lives in Mechanicsville with her family.  

Emery Myers LMSW-LCADC

Health Hub Social Worker

Emery Myers LMSW-LCADC joined SMCHD in 2022 and works as a Health Hub Social Worker providing behavioral health crisis services. He is responsible for the coordination of care and continued care planning, crisis interventions, and brief solution-focused therapies. 

Myers is from Maryland, growing up in Seat Pleasant. He completed his Bachelor of Science from Bowie State University in Maryland and received his Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore, School of Social Work. Emery is a Licensed Master Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor earning the licenses in 2006 and 2021 respectively. 

A U.S. Army veteran, Emery brings a multifaceted background to the SMCHD team. His previous work experience includes time as a Group Facilitator for New Life Addiction Counseling and Mental Health, an Addiction Services Counselor for Pyramid HealthCare Services, and a Child Protective Services Investigator for the Charles County Department of Social Services. 

Emery currently resides in Charles County with his family.

Jody Boyers MSW-LCSW

Health Hub Social Worker

Jody Boyers MSW-LCSW joined SMCHD in 2022 and works as a Health Hub Social Worker providing behavioral health crisis services. She is responsible for the coordination of care and continued care planning, crisis interventions, and brief solution-focused therapies. 

Boyers was raised in Maryland, growing up in Port Tobacco. She completed her undergraduate degree at Elon University in North Carolina and received her Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has been licensed since 2002. 

She brings 24 years of experience to SMCHD, previously working for the Charles County Department of Social Services in Child Welfare, Adult Services, and most recently as the Adult Services Supervisor. She currently resides in St. Mary’s County with her family.

Meaghan Lansley BS, MSN, RN, ANP-BC

Nurse Practitioner

Meaghan Lansley headshot

Meaghan Lansley BS, MSN, RN, ANP-BC serves as a provider for the Division of Clinical Services at SMCHD. In her role as a Certified Nurse Practitioner, she provides clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients ages 18 and older. Lansley interacts with patients to administer women’s wellness exams including breast and cervical health screenings, diagnosis and treatment for STIs, pregnancy tests, mental health screenings, and assessment and prescription for many forms of family planning and birth control. She also works to link patients to other SMCHD and community services as needed. 

Lansley grew up in Massachusetts, and as a part of a military family has lived in a number of places. She graduated from Ithaca College in New York in 1999 with a BS in Exercise Science/Cardiac Rehab and Nutrition. She received her RN and MSN certifications from Northeastern University in Boston in 2008 and 2010 respectively, as well as becoming Board Certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. 

She currently resides in Southern Maryland, which she has called home longest so far, with her husband, three children, and dog. She enjoys staying active with hobbies including running, hiking, swimming, skiing, and also baking.  

Vanessa Palmer, MSN, CRNP-PMH-BC

Nurse Practitioner

Vanessa Palmer, MSN, CRNP-PMH-BC, is a dedicated board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner serving patients at the St. Mary’s County Health Hub. Originally hailing from Cleveland, Ohio she obtained a baccalaureate degree in psychology from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. Her passion for caring for people who suffer from mental health conditions led her to pursue a nursing degree at The University of Akron, in Akron, Ohio where she earned a BSN, and later, to The University of Alabama at Birmingham for an MSN with a concentration on psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. 

Vanessa began her mental health career in 2012 as a behavioral health technician in an inpatient acute psychiatric hospital. Her expertise extends to treating individuals of all ages, making her proficient in addressing a wide spectrum of mental health conditions. She actively fosters therapeutic partnerships with her patients. Vanessa goes the extra mile to ensure that patients comprehend their medications, why they are taking them, their effects on the body, and potential side effects. 

Beyond her professional commitment, Vanessa finds solace in spending quality time with her family, exploring new destinations through travel, and deepening her understanding of mental health and wellness.
