The St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) is dedicated to partnering with our local healthcare providers and institutions to optimize the health of our county’s residents. In our efforts to work with and support our local healthcare professionals, SMCHD will be coordinating web-based provider training opportunities on relevant and emerging healthcare topics.

Buprenorphine

Our Behavioral Health Team has been reaching out to local healthcare providers to discuss medication-assisted treatment and to provide information on the training and waiver needed to practice opioid dependency treatment with buprenorphine.

Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)

The Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, or PDMP, was established to support healthcare providers and their patients in the safe and effective use of prescription drugs. The PDMP collects and securely stores information on drugs that contain controlled substances and are dispensed to patients in Maryland.
