Radon

Radon exposure is a health hazard with a simple solution. Radon is an invisible, odorless radioactive gas in the earth that can enter into lower level rooms of your home, like a basement. The longer you and your family are exposed to radon, the greater risk you have of developing lung cancer. Testing for radon is easy, affordable and the best way to protect your family from exposure. The Maryland Department of the Environment has discounted Radon Test Kits for as little as $3.

Test Your Home Today

How Often Should I Test/Retest My Home For Radon?

If you don’t know your home’s radon level, you should think about getting a radon test. Testing for radon is easy, affordable, and the best way to protect your family from exposure. View the image below to see what your radon level means, for guidance on additional testing/retesting, or whether some mitigation (removal of radon) is necessary.

Maryland Radon Data Map

The Maryland Department of Health has a Radon Data Map showing average radon levels measured in Maryland homes. It is important to note that radon levels inside a home are dependent on many factors (resident behaviors, soil composition, etc), so we encourage people to test their homes in order to know their own risk.
