LEONARDTOWN, MD (September 8, 2014) – Outreach staff from the St. Mary’s County Health Department will provide free adult and child immunizations and private HIV oral screenings at the upcoming Access Healthcare event on Monday, September 15th from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Lexington Park Library.
The Access Healthcare event is open to the public. The following immunizations and services will be offered, free of charge, while supplies last:
Free private HIV oral screening (no needle sticks) for anyone
Free adult vaccines, including:
- Tdap (whooping cough and tetanus)
- Pneumonia (for those with chronic illness such as diabetes, asthma, heart and kidney disease, people with weakened immune systems, and for people age 65 years and older)
- Human papillomavirus (HPV) for males and females through age 26
Free child and teen vaccines, including:
- Tdap (10 years and older)
- Hepatitis A
- Human papillomavirus (HPV) for boys and girls 10 years and older
- Meningitis (10 years and older)
St. Mary’s County residents will also be provided information about private and public health insurance options in Maryland. Residents can learn about lower private health insurance premiums, eligibility for Medicaid, local transportation options, and other community services that help residents access health care.
