Health Insurance Programs

Serving Children, Pregnant Women & Families

State Health Insurance Programs

  • Maryland Children’s Health Program (MCHP) provides free health care to eligible pregnant women and children with low to average incomes.
  • Maryland Children’s Health Premium Program provides health care to middle-income families with no health insurance, with a low monthly premium to cover all eligible children.
  • Medicaid provides free health care to families, non-disabled single adults, and caretakers. Eligibility depends on family size and income.
  • Qualified Health Plans provide essential health benefits. Local health department staff can assist with eligibility determination for qualified health plans and warm handoff for enrollment assistance.

All four programs may cover in-patient hospital care, doctor visits, mental health services, substance abuse services, transportation to medical appointments, lab work and tests, dental and vision care, prescriptions, and immunizations.
