LEONARDTOWN, MD (March 8, 2013) – In response to the water main break that occurred on the south end of Rt. 246 (Great Mills Road) Thursday evening, March 07, 2013, the St. Mary’s County Health Department urges citizens in the affected area to continue to utilize bottled water and to follow the water boil advisory.
The St. Mary’s County Health Department continues to monitor the situation and has suspended retail food service operation in the affected area. Licensed food service facilities may remain open; however, sales are limited to only prepackaged food items.
Health department officials, in cooperation with the St. Mary’s County Board of Education, have temporarily suspended food service operation to Great Mills High School and the Chesapeake Charter School.
This water boil advisory will remain in effect until water sampling results indicate that the water is safe for consumption.
